YOUTUBE – My own thumbnails are changing back to the basic/auto-generated ones. How to fix that?
Posted by on September 7, 2020 at 4:37 pmThere is a weird thing happening with my thumbnails. Everything seems to be working fine when I upload and save them. I can even see the changes in the Youtube Studio. However, after an hour or so they get changed back to the basic ones. Why is that happening?

Short answer, things can go wonky during Youtube’s video processing period, especially if the videos is public while processing. I work for a fairly large channel and I generally upload/optimize videos then schedule them to go public in an hour or two. Less potential for processing errors (still possible though) and it gives you time to double check everything is correct before the video goes live.

Try unlisted first, get everything the way you want it to look and then either schedule or change to public and then see what happens.
