    YouTube Ads Won’t Serve Impressions

Posted by seohelper on July 1, 2021 at 12:36 am

Anyone know how to solve issues with YouTube ads serving? I have several new YouTube campaigns in a PPC account that refuse to serve any impressions no matter how high I set the bid (manual CPV) or how many different audiences I try. Video is approved and no demographic or placement exclusions are set. No technical issues with the account. Google Support keeps telling me that “some ad groups will serve less impressions than others” but there is only one ad group in each campaign, argh.

There could be many reasons for that unfortunately, so I will list the root causes I’ve seen myself:

    * You may have a “limited reach” tag on some ads (inside of those ad groups) due to causes like the music used on the video, words on the description etc. I once had a ad refuse to run because I used the word “connect” in the text! Go figure. If you see those tags, remove it altogether and replace with something else.
    * Make sure you aren’t using any brand names on the text. Google will say they’re probably ok, but reach will be so low, it’s not ok.
    * Look under settings to see what you’re optimising for. Don’t use Conversion in the beginning when the ad has no impressions. It sends the ad into a loop where it can’t show ads cos it doesn’t have conversion data, and doesn’t have conversion data because it doesn’t show ads.
