Would it be worthwhile to post my articles to Medium and other blogs? Should I rewrite them so they aren’t considered duplicate?
Posted by seohelper on June 26, 2020 at 12:14 amI’m working on a newish website, been building it out for the last 4 months, and trying to increase our backlinks. Would it be helpful to use blog sites like Medium to share my content? Do these sites hold less wait? Is there a better way to build links?
Thank you for your help, I’m quite green to all this and really trying get our products noticed.

GuestJune 26, 2020 at 1:21 amI’m wondering the same… how to leverage similar / same content on other platforms like Medium.

GuestJune 26, 2020 at 2:43 amI don’t know if it helps back links, etc.
But under advanced settings in Medium you can save the canonical url. You can even import posts directly from a site if they aren’t too big.

GuestJune 26, 2020 at 2:56 amI cross post articles to Medium. As long as you set the canonical url, from what I understand, it shouldn’t hurt seo. And it definitely helps with name and brand recognition. I’ve been doing it for over a year and have only seen my brand grow.

GuestJune 26, 2020 at 4:01 amVery good question!
Use the canonical url tag, it tells Google or whatever SE you are using that the content is originally from a certain source. This will prevent you being penalized from duplicate content but will give you the rewards of having your content in multiple places.

GuestJune 26, 2020 at 4:43 amMedium is a nofollow so it will only help minimally with backlinks but it won’t hurt and as others have said there’s no downside – just set the canonical (no need to rewrite) and you’re good.

GuestJune 26, 2020 at 8:27 amIf you have a single page accessible by multiple URLs, or different pages with similar content (for example, a page with both a mobile and a desktop version), Google sees these as duplicate versions of the same page. Google will choose one URL as the canonical version and crawl that, and all other URLs will be considered duplicate URLs and crawled less often. If you don’t explicitly tell Google which URL is canonical, Google will make the choice for you or might consider them both of equal weight, which might lead to unwanted behaviour.

GuestJune 26, 2020 at 12:02 pmRewrite your content and post it on medium(put Atleast 1/3 of effort while rewriting this content). Build an audience on medium as well and also link back to your website. This will bring **only** quality traffic to your website. Trust me this works wonder.
Medium is still one of the best parasite websites. Do not underestimate the power of parasite SEO. -

GuestJune 26, 2020 at 12:26 pmYes, post them there. BTW, there is no duplicate content penalty. Sites will get slapped if they have spammy intent or are acting maliciously.
There are so many videos from the smart people at Google on this topic. If you wrote a specific article on a topic that is designed to help people and meets Google’s EAT requirements, you could put that article on multiple sites without issue.
I can attest to this personally as I have tens of thousands of pages on a thousand sites with landing page content that is very similar. They all rank incredibly well and have never had an issue over the past five years. (note: all content is in the automotive industry)

GuestJune 26, 2020 at 2:00 pmYes, syndicating content (posting blog posts to Medium and other blogs) can help you reach a broader audience and attract targeted traffic.
Follow these tips while posting content:

1. Set the canonical URL that points to the original post
2. Add a disclaimer at the end, stating the original post was published on another site (you can link to it).
3. If you’ve got a blog post on the main topic, break it down into sub-topics, and publish these on sites like Medium and others. Let me explain it with an example.
Main Topic – 10 Most Popular Domain Extensions
Sub-topics – Best Alternatives to .COM domains, Why .ONLINE is the best for Online Businesses, Why .TECH is the Best for Tech Startups, and so on…
4. Rewrite completely. I understand it can be hard to rewrite again from scratch. You can hire a writer and ask them to completely rewrite the blog post.

That’s it! Follow these tips to successfully republish content on syndication platforms.
I hope it helps. 🙂

GuestJune 26, 2020 at 8:13 pmWhy would you dilute your work and content by posting it elsewhere? By sharing it on Medium it is no better than treating it as an article website like ezinearticles. At least I think ezinearticles now only accept original work. These backlinks have no affect whatsoever. I would never share my content on other sites and nor would anyone else who’s serious about their work and reputation.
If the content was totally original, that may help, but if it’s good content put it on your own website!
If you want some backlinks, answer a few questions on Quora and put a link to your relevant page on your website at the bottom. Then, if your answer is popular, you’ll get some visitors as well.
