Will I harm my domain by doing this?

I am working on starting a new Baby Care brand which will sell products related to Baby Health. We have bought an amazing domain already. Currently the team is in product development, and as incharge of marketing I figured, why not start writing relevant blog articles right away so that the website starts getting some organic traffic and then add the products to the website when the products are ready. That way, we already have some traffic when we launch.
Is there any flaw in this strategy? I am also worried google could penalise us for changing from a blog to a eCommerce website? Does that happen?

That’s exactly what you should do. Build content and a following before launch day.
If possible go ahead and create content and blog posts on the e-commerce platform the biz plans to use. Else changing platforms is not a problem but requires extra work to make sure permalinks are the same, redirects are setup, etc etc
