Why is Twitter more “popular” than Reddit.
Posted by seohelper on February 18, 2021 at 3:21 amI know they have around the same amount if users, but I sort of feel like Twitter is more popular ( idk if hyped is the better word), but I don’t know why. Why do you think Twitter is more popular than Reddit ( or vice-versa, if that is your opinion.)?

Twitter has been courting brands for years and it’s easy to advertise on there. Reddit had only recently entered this game.

GuestFebruary 18, 2021 at 3:38 amDo they have the same amount of users?
The first thing that comes to mind is it’s much more public and much more digestible. We have celebrities here but you kinda have to be in the know.

GuestFebruary 18, 2021 at 3:42 amIt’s seen as more popular because celebrities use it more often. Celebs generally only come here for AMAs.

GuestFebruary 18, 2021 at 4:03 amTwitter is where a lot of breaking news and fast updates are communicated. Therefore making it very valuable to keep up with. Also you can connect with friends on Twitter whereas that usually isn’t the case on Reddit. Companies can better advertise on Twitter too

GuestFebruary 18, 2021 at 4:39 amI think the word youre looking for is mainstream? It’s because Twitter is more user friendly out of the box. I have tons of friends who avoid reddit because it just “looks confusing” “idk how to use it” “it doesn’t have what i’m interested in”. Where as my grandma can work twitter with 10 buttons. Twitter is quick, 280 characters and youre done. To reddit some reddit threads you need a few minutes of your time to read a stranger’s unvetted thoughts.
Reddit is impersonal, there’s no profile, no profile pictures, no names. Twitter profiles scream “this is me!” Media outlets, celebrities and employers use Twitter to **connect with others**. Share things from brands and outlets and thought leaders. Reddit is still the wild wild west for a surprisingly large population. Reddit picked up advertising late and it’s kind of tricky to advertise, compared to Twitter’s super easy ad manager.

GuestFebruary 18, 2021 at 7:23 amIkr! Maybe its the relatively easier design or the fact that literally anyone can post whatever they want. This is exactly why I prefer reddit, at least there are some guidelines to keep things safe

Intuitive = easy to use & understand.

GuestFebruary 18, 2021 at 8:42 amVirtually every single journalist lives on twitter, all day, every day. It’s like their high school cafeteria. And just like high school, they assume things that happen there are the most important thing in the world, and that vibe seeps into their work, and through their work, to the entire culture.
