Why is my custom audience not getting any impressions?
Hello,
I set up a 2-part campaign in Facebook ads.
Part 1 = driving cold traffic (using relevant interests) to a product page related to their interests. Namely, sending people who have liked a variety of pages related to “dinosaurs”, to a website that sells dinosaur artwork (among other kinds of artwork)
Part 2 = retargeting people who have visited a URL on my website that includes “triceratops” (which is the landing page that I’m driving traffic to) with an offer to get 20% off their purchase.
The thinking is, while the cold traffic may not convert very well, this custom audience will be warmed up, they’ve indicated they’re at least in the ballpark of interested in my products by clicking on the link to visit the website, and seeing that they can get 20% off might push them over the edge to making the buying decision the second time around — especially if their key objection the first time was the price of the artwork.
Seems all well and good in principle, but the problem is, part 2 of my campaign (a reach campaign targeting that custom audience) is not getting ANY impressions whatesoever. And pt 1 of the campaign is generating about 50 clicks per day.
Why might this be? Does Facebook delay the amount of time that people ads from a given advertiser? Note that pt 1 of the campaign is a traffic campaign optimized for landing page views, and I can’t see anything in there that says “1 impression every 7 days” or whatever you may see in a reach campaign. So I’m at a loss for why this retargeting strategy is delivering zero impressions whatsoever to this custom audience. Any ideas?
