  • Why buying Backlinks on the Homepage ‘DA” Score is a bad idea [SEO Debate]

This is for people considering buying backlinks and having mandates like minimum DA or Da=70 and up.

Firstly – DA is not the floor watermark for the domain. IF the page is out of bounds from an Authority PoV – its not going to do anything. But its a dangerous metric on its own.

Also – its incredibly hard to assess traffic to existing pages because SERP tools' Keyword Databases are so small.

Also – its very difficult to assess if a guest post will fit in a domains topical authority or that the link farm owner will do enough to rank it highly

Agreed. Always check how many outgoing links a site has, it’s one of the biggest factors, and manually assess the site’s backlink portfolio to see if it’s inflated with bad domains.

For me, seeing a massive incline and then decline in traffic, or seeing a traffic high point and a consistent decline, is a sign that the site is being used for guest posts and has lost value. There’s something about it that makes my alarm bells ring.

Domain authority means nothing at all

Not a debate for me I don’t care for third-party vanity metrics.

Further Google is a page rank system not a website system. Which means not all the authority from the homepage passes on to the other pages.

If you look on Google itself you’ll notice just because one page ranks doesn’t mean the rest of the pages rank on the website
