Why are CPM so high and accounts getting banned? Facebook is gentrifying the platform.

Just came across this video (I am not affiliated) but this is one of the best reasons I’ve seen so far about why everything is costing so much.

Facebook has increased the CPM because they no longer want horrible businesses advertising on their platform. All the companies and trash that are drop shipping etc is causing a horrible experience on this platform so they are now banning accounts that do not have a history with their platform.

That would be great news. Sadly I also think the ctr is affected which doesn’t make sense

More like election season just happened, Black Friday is around the corner, and Christmas is after that. Welcome to Q4.

This is useless victim blaming — “it’s your own fault Facebook Ads is charging you 5x more, your company/product sucks. Oh and you’re just like Chinese scammers.”

No. There are plenty of good brands out there that have had their CPAs skyrocket. It’s ok to say Facebook’s acting in bad faith. Fb needs to be more transparent with advertisers. If they want to charge you extra for bad UI, fine. They SHOULD tell you about it though, not leave you in the dark with no guidance on how to fix it.

And gentrifying isn’t about increasing cost of real estate. It’s about increasing quality and safety—more effective targeting and higher CTR. From what I’ve been told, clickbait celeb-ad scammers are doing better than ever on fb right now.

Say it with me. “Facebook is doing a bad job, and should feel pressure to fix this.”

Just for some reference that I didn’t (and probably should have) mentioned in the video (I am the creator of this video, not affiliated at all with OP):

    1. I haven’t been advertising in the USA since around January this year and have been advising people I work with to do the same thing

    2. This theory comes from more than just high prices in Q4, it’s based on feedback from a lot of people I work with, along with a tonne of posts on here and other platforms

    3. The idea of this video is more to shed light on what I hope happens to Facebook – some kind of approval process for advertising on there, and justifying why I think that’s the case

Happy to have discussions about this and get anyone else’s thoughts or ideas on the topic!

    Thanks again for the share
