Which type of business is better to get to 7 figures e commerce or lead gen

    Hey guys,

Imagine your working backwards. You want to put yourself in the best position to launch your own venture.

Do you build “high income” skills and gear every single decision you make to build a ecom store or a lead gen business?

Each have their pros and cons that I’m slightly aware of ( I’ve reached the point of knowing what I don’t know in the dunning kruger scale)

Which do you choose? Left it vague so add as much nuance as you see fit.

Happy to answer any questions and hope to promote a good discussion.

Get the skills to do lead gen for ecommerce. I’d definitely lean towards lead gen.

Not sure what’s easier but lead gen is a boring business that’s difficult to “own the customer” in as well

    Definitely local lead gen.

You own the digital assets (the lead gen sites), you control who the leads go to. No need to spend money split testing, monitoring ad spend, and conversions.

There’s little maintenance you have to do on the sites once you rank them.

Scaling is as simple as building out more sites, ranking them, and sending leads to more local business owners.

As far as landing a client goes, you send leads in advance. Not many business owners are going to turn away free leads and this is perfect if you aren’t good at sales. The leads in hand speak for themselves.

I don’t think one option is clearly better than the other. What skills are you referring to? Generally, the same skills would apply to both in terms of things like marketing, copywriting, tracking, optimization, etc. With ecom, you’ll deal with inventory and customers and with lead gen you’ll need to secure strong enough buyers to compete.
