  • What would make you pay to use a social media platform?

Most major social media apps are "free" and survive on ad revenue and data brokering.

What features and functions would a social platform need to have that you would find it worth paying for? Say $5 a month.

    0 ads. Zero.

My feed is the people I follow. Period.

Doesn’t try to be 15 things at once. It does 2 or 3 things well. No bloat.

No private accounts. If you want a private account don’t make one to begin with.

No likes. People show appreciation for your posts with shares/reposts. Also it would need to be a photography centric app like Instagram was at the beginning. No meme bullshit. Actual pictures.

Only need first name, age, location. No last names. No address other than state. No ID uploads.

No video. Still images and text posts only.

If you are banned/restricted you must be given a specific reason why and if your first appeal is denied you get a second appeal with an actual human. None of this vague protecting the community crap.

Friends list is limited to 100.

Discover feed is refreshed every 48 hours so more people get exposure instead of seeing the same 30 images over and over.

All AI content must be labeled as such and is funneled to a special AI feed that you can opt out of. Anyone caught posting AI content that is not disclosed as such will be booted out.

No ads, data collection, or algorithm. An app where I could just connect with people I like and share things with them. But then it wouldn’t be addictive and no one would use it.

Nothing, even if it ticked every box. Trying to get off them entirely.
