Posted by seohelper on March 5, 2021 at 12:53 pmWhat are some features you’d like to see on a social media/network that gives you connections that meaningful to your life but also makes it easy to maintain those connections?

GuestMarch 5, 2021 at 3:43 pmGet rid of ANY mention of how many ‘likes’ or whatever other bullshit metrics something has on the platform, for me personally it encourages everything that is wrong with social media

GuestMarch 5, 2021 at 9:35 pmthis is kind of treading on thin ice and I don’t even know how much I like this idea but I really do think social media would be better if you could not make an account so easily with a fake name, fake picture, etc. There are way too many accounts that exist solely just to stir up the pot by saying things that aren’t true and there’s no way to hold them accountable except for to block them, I guess. It’s so easy to go online and talk shit when nobody knows who you are.

GuestMarch 6, 2021 at 4:25 pmHonestly for the majority of platforms, getting rid of vanity metrics like Likes and Views could go a long way towards forcing people to judge content based on its quality rather than social proof.
Although, I think Likes could be an important metric for longer form content like YouTube videos, that way people don’t have to waste their time on poor quality videos if they’re longer. I think the views should go away from public view on YT too, though.
