teach a local adult ed class on “how to market your business digitally”

will educate YOU on how to interact with potential clients, better understand their needs, and give you an opportunity for self-promotion

You might have to take anything you can get at first, but as you get traction figure out what kind of clients you want to work with. Double down on finding more of those. Fire toxic clients – even if their checks clear they take up space that could be used for growth.

In the beginning take anything you get even if it isn’t profitable at first. If your work is any good you’ll get recommended and drown in work within the next 2-3 years.

Also never go for tiny or small local businesses. There’s usually no money to be made and lots of work.

Never do restaurants/hotels if you want to keep your sanity (chains excluded, they’re sometimes fine).

    Also for hiring:

The first people should be copywriters and designers. A copywriter learns ppc in no time. Also hire professionals and stop the 200 minimum wage monkey bullshit.

Should i specialize in one niche or work with many? Whats the best way to get new clients, cold email/warm call?

    Keep track of stuff!!

Can’t stress this enough, but the book and record keeping part of “being your own boss” is tedious but will pay off later.

Create documentation processes for yourself. Work with a tax consultant/CPA as soon as you start generating revenue. Create reporting processes, schedule automated emails, note down how much time you need for each and every task you do.

It’s super boring and tedious but trust me you will love yourself for doing it down the line.
