I just saw a dude on X pushing a Google Ads bid "hack" where Shopify CVR data syncs with a Google script, that then moves bids up/down based on Shopify CVR in an hourly cadence.
Sounds super cool in theory, right? But it could ruin your account overnight, and there's a super important note to apply here.
What might work in a +$100k/mo Google Ads account, will harm a $10k/mo Google Ads account – meaning that in this case you'll tank Smart Bidding in a $10k/mo Google Ads account with hourly bidding changes, whereas a +$100k/mo account is less volatile to hourly changes (and even then theres still a risk of tanking Smart Bidding with hourly changes)
There's an important lesson to be made in this, and it's ultimately where the individual account manager needs to apply their own logic to what "hacks" they see, before diving headfirst into what appears to be a "hack" that potentially could ruin their account.
I get the temptation – “hacks” feel like shortcuts.
But in Google Ads, shortcuts usually lead you backwards.Master the boring stuff. That’s what actually compounds.

This is just one piece of the puzzle, pick a one data and made changes based on that.
Also if you are targeting the US for example as the whole market, that’s 4 time zones (sorry Alaska & Hawaii)
So how do you determine if it make sense to increase a bids for LA when there is NY hours ahead.
Overall I don’t think you have enough datapoints to up/down the bids even in a $100K account, unless you have very large volume. Also, this technique is completely unaware of the fact that a user needs 7-14 touch-points with the brand and you just focusing on the last one, by measuring the immediate conversion rate. -
IMO, a $100k a per month account is a lot easier to manage than a $10k per month account. Accounts with smaller budgets 9 times out of 10 have a lot more nuances and things to work around as compared to a larger account that can pick up after a bad week or two due to the spending and the data Google can pick up.

I think the ‘hack’ you saw is a scam. Scripts that modify bids on an hourly basis haven’t been a thing for years.
Today’s customer journeys are too complicated for that.
Plus, doing this means he isn’t using smart bidding because there are no bids to change there, except for max. CPC.
Making such changes to automated bidding will break the algorithm anyway.So yes he’s probably losing more money with this approach than just having good practices for value based bidding.
Or the thing he talks about doesn’t even exist. I saw another guru claiming he has a script that modifies PMax bids. It’s just not possible.
