what follower count equals popular ?
Posted by on April 7, 2026 at 1:29 amWas thinking about this for awhile and wanted some other people's opinions, with social media bigger then ever how many followers does it take to be considered popular?
On youtube having over 50k subscribers is considered being an actual youtuber
But on other social media theres a crap ton of random TikTok accounts which can sit between 40k-100k without being considered tiktokers
I remember back during my fandom days one artist in the fandom was considered incredibly popular but even she only had 10k subscribers on youtube which leads me to my question
So reddit how many followers do you have before your popular and how different is that number between different social media ?

Popularity is no longer defined by your follower count, but by how many people outside of your niche actually know your name.
