What do you use for client reports?
Posted by seohelper on November 7, 2020 at 7:27 amFor those of you who run SEO businesses, what do you use for generating reports for clients each month? Additionally, what information do you typically include in your reports?
My current report process is with SEMRush, but it’s very tedious and I feel like there are better ways of doing this. I’m thinking of trying Google Data Studio…

GuestNovember 7, 2020 at 8:06 amTapClicks is always trying to get me to sign with them, but their pricing is astronomical. Google Data Studio is my go-to.

GuestNovember 7, 2020 at 12:22 pmI use SEMrush and it can be tedious from time to time but if you create a set template and then have that template auto generate at the end of each month so you’re just refreshing, it makes it easier.

GuestNovember 7, 2020 at 12:23 pmIn my agency we use Google data studio cause you can connect it natively with a lot of sources.
If you use google sheet, it is almost instant that you can pull metrics from it.
And the Semrush connectors has been added recently.
Depending on the report you’re trying to make,
I splitted the metrics in categories :
Trafic/conversion
Technical
Content
BacklinkHope it can help

GuestNovember 7, 2020 at 12:31 pmI use Google Data Studio. After you setup an initial report, you can just copy it and reuse for other clients. A little buggy but pretty powerful for a free service, and it’s easy to connect to Google Analytics, Google Search Console, and even SEMrush if you have a guru plan.

GuestNovember 7, 2020 at 1:31 pmi use a number of data sources, pull the data together via a set of APIs provided by the data providers and i’ve written my own applet to present the data to my clients. more often than not, they don’t even look at it and it’s really presented in a way for me to follow and do all the necessary work.

GuestNovember 7, 2020 at 1:38 pmGoogle Data Studio. It might look a little intimidating at first, but it is actually pretty easy to learn. Once you learn it, it is pretty easy to create a customized dashboard for clients.

GuestNovember 7, 2020 at 2:50 pmGoogleDataStudios all the way!
I include three main KPIs to keep it as simple as I can for clients – traffic, keyword ranks, leads.
I don’t even include the actual keywords I’m tracking – just an overview of performance across a few groups of keywords (high volume goals, high performing keywords, baseline, etc).
For KW data I use SEMRush. Leads I use CallRail, Intaker, Jotforms.

GuestNovember 7, 2020 at 3:39 pmSEMRush and Google Data Studio. GDS is mainly for what is happening on the site and SEMRush is mainly for what is happening on the search engines.

GuestNovember 7, 2020 at 7:07 pmFor bespoke things like analytics dashboards and stuff we still use Data Studio. For our Digital Strategy monthly scorecards we do basic Search Console of course and the normal GA stuff plus any segments and more client-specific stuff, but generally we have everything we want tracked built to send to GA through Custom Dimensions and the like.
