What do you think about Social Media for Education?
Posted by seohelper on May 12, 2021 at 3:14 amI’ve been wondering for weeks now, why isn’t there a Social Media for Education wherein there’s great content from quality educators.
I see the way many good content creators on existing social media struggling to get noticed, considering they are busy competing with click-bait and entertainment content.
Do you think it would be smart to build & test out something like a Snap/Insta, but only for Education?
Quick content from quality creators and some social exchange?propelguru01 replied 4 years, 10 months ago 1 Member · 7 Replies -

GuestMay 12, 2021 at 4:39 amA big problem is social media use. You hop on social media when you are in a bored at work / bored in line mode. You have a couple of minutes to waste.
Therefore you will compete vs. the sexy Instagram, the TikTok casino where you pull the dopamine like a one armed bandit and more video content to watch you would ever be able to on YouTube. There is also great educational content living out there on those platforms.

GuestMay 12, 2021 at 8:54 amThe social channels are format platforms, not content platforms. Great educators are available on all of them, with their lessons tailored to whatever works best on that platform.
Education is also tiered, and tailored for the audience as they learn. You need to know/understand one level in order to get the next one. Yeah an algorithm could probably do a lot of filtering to help with this, but if you take out trending and put people through a pathway, then is it really social media, or is it more like a traditional top-down MMO course, but with crowdsourced content?

GuestMay 13, 2021 at 4:38 pmThat’s a good idea because people are really searching to learn something day by day.
I would like to tell you one platform which get millions of visitors per month but there only focus on selling online courses for cheap price. That’s website call Udemy.
So accommodating to this platform we can assume by creating educational based social media can get higher amount of interaction.
Nowadays so many people try to become educational influencer such as Gary vee so I believe it can be huge.
So I suggest you to build and test it out with general public hopefully it will become one of best social media from my perspective. ??

GuestMay 14, 2021 at 12:37 pmI’m unsure of how viable this would be as a platform, just given the fact that its a bit niche and most content platforms like Youtube, Instagram, etc. already serve the purpose of giving content creators an outlet and its up to the end-user/learner to figure out what they are looking for. These platforms are also getting a lot smarter in trying to gauge exactly what a user is looking for as well.
Once a person goes through a piece of content or lets say lesson online, they could easily join a forum or a sub-reddit that caters to what they’re trying to learn and ask questions or discuss with other community members. Stack Overflow is a good example of a forum where developers ranging from newbies to experts can exchange information.
Would it be ideal for content platforms and social platforms to merge to give a much more seamless experience? For sure, but I feel like that takes away the flexibility that was meant to be offered by online learning, to begin with.

Integrating them into a learning environment is natural, given how students are acclimatized to virtual learning more than ever.
Different social media platforms offer different provisions of holding virtual live lectures, share announcements and much more.
Social media provides a smoother and a more direct approach at learning where students can pick up the knowledge from the comfort of their homes and allows parents to directly interact with the teacher. Even children who don’t have the provision of going to school can get their education over social media.
