Video content is the way to go but producing it costs more and clients are often not willing to pay the extra. Resulting in more photo posts which in return doesn’t get the results (KPIs) we hope for. -

GuestAugust 15, 2020 at 3:10 pmClients having no clue what professional content looks like. They are used to taking a picture and putting test on it within the photos app on their iPhone. So, I would say clientele being overwhelmed.
Which is somewhat of a double edged sword because now they think they owe you a ton of money since it looks 200x better…

GuestAugust 15, 2020 at 4:14 pmClients don’t always understand that the social medium content has a different language – copy and design wise. Digital content should be more “friendly” and less “advertise-ey”. They never seem to get that. They hate talking about anything or posting anything that doesn’t seem to be a direct ad or doesn’t talk about their product directly.

GuestAugust 15, 2020 at 5:33 pmI work in higher ed, but our department’s audience is faculty. I can come up with a great content strategy and have tons of ideas for posts, videos, etc, but I need people with the subject expertise to take the time to inform and/or review my work. Like, I don’t know shit about best practices of using active learning in remote courses for students with special needs, but if I can just get 15 min of my colleague’s time, I can write the blog, make the info graphic, and develop a bunch of social content around it. So it’s either “lack of subject matter expertise” (which requires a PhD of its own…) or “lack of investment from my coworkers.”

GuestAugust 15, 2020 at 7:24 pmI think with big clients the issue will always be that you’re developing content months ahead of posting. The point of social media content is to be relevant and fitting in with digital trends and culture. It’s hard to do that with content that has been produced months in the past. The best clients are going to be ones that jump on an opportunity and say yes to another quick shoot here and there…and are OK with NOT posting something/changing the plan
