What are the consequences of replacing my feed for Shopping and for Search Ads?

Posted by seohelper on July 3, 2020 at 7:27 am

    Hi everyone,

I’m keep coming back to this community because I like how everyone here is sharing their knowledge, giving advice and helping each other out. Just like r/Excel, this is one of the few subreddits that could help you developing yourself. So my compliments to everyone here!

Now my question. I have a feed in my feed management tool. This tool takes the feed and creates search ads from it. I also use my feed for regular Shopping.

I’m replacing this feed with a new one in which more products are available. What are the things I should check to see if the transition goes well? My question is probably a bit vague so I’m happy to answer follow up questions.

    Thank you.

What exactly is changing in the ‘new’ feed?

If you alter your item IDs, you’ll essentially lose all of the data you’ve accumulated in the account so far (for your shopping campaigns), and be starting from 0.

It’ll be a hard “reset” meaning you will lose any automated optimization you had built up. This is only true if you’re using automated bid strategies.

If you’re doing manual bidding you will need to redesign your campaigns.

Just update your shopping feed and don’t replace it. If you are optimizing the feed, hence why you want to update it. Then things should trend upwards. With any shopping feed update, look for items being approved in GMC and that your SKUs make it into Google ads. Otherwise, make sure purchases are happening.
