GuestApril 16, 2021 at 10:30 pmOrganic – someone has searched a term on a search engine such as “how do I make a website” and has clicked the link to your page.
Direct – someone typed the URL of your page into their browser. (Or favourites / bookmarks / history)
Referral- someone has clicked a link elsewhere on the internet (backlink) that leads to your page. (Excludes ads)
Social – someone has clicked a link to your page on a social media platform.

Organic traffic is a special type of referral traffic, which is known as visitors who arrive from search engines. This is what most marketers aim to increase. The higher your ranking for certain keywords, the more times the search result will appear (more impressions), which ultimately leads to more visitors (aka clicks). It is also important to note that paid search ads do not count in this category.
**Direct traffic**
The most popular way for a user to access your website is to type the URL into the address bar. This is known as direct traffic. The visitor arrives directly without coming from anywhere else on the web. Other forms of direct animation include clicking on a bookmark or links from documents that do not include trace variables (such as PDFs or Word documents).
**Referral traffic**
The other way that visitors can access your website is through accessing other websites; In this case, the user accesses your website after following a link from another website. The link that the customer clicked on is referred to as a “backlink,” as it links back to your website. This traffic is more beneficial for your website’s search engine optimization (SEO) rather than direct traffic, which has little or no effect. The reason is that Google and other search engine interpret backlinks as small doses of credibility for your website. If there are other credible sites linking to your site, it means that it consists of closely related and accurate content, which is exactly what search engines want.
**social**
Traffic from a social platform, such as Facebook, Linked In, or Instagram, and many more.
Understanding where your visitors come from is an integral part of any marketing tactics. Your website is the main part of your digital marketing practices, with traffic flowing like blood. No traffic on your website means it cannot do anything for your business; knowing the different types of traffic, how it works in your website, and how to implement quality tools gives you the ability to make informed decisions about how to improve your marketing practices.

GuestApril 23, 2021 at 1:43 pmIt’s amazing to me the amount of dumb questions that get asked in SEO forums that can simply be answered by… doing a search in a search engine. You would think people focused on search engines would know how to use them, right?
