  • What all can I do to build a community on Instagram?

Hi, i am handling social media (Instagram, LinkedIn, and Twitter) for an Indian company called Pepper Content (@pepper_content on Instagram). It’s a content mediation platform that manages a large pool of freelancers to provide writing, designing, and language services to clients.

When it comes to marketing, the audience is freelancers and independent content creators. We don’t sell our services directly on social media. The goal is to build a community.

We make posts related to freelancing/ content creation. Right now, we post original relatable memes, reels, freelance tips and hacks, and generic hygiene posts that either add value or are humorous/ relatable in nature.

I know the freelance or gig economy market is huge in India, and we are among the top players in the market in terms of quality of service and revenues. But the same isn’t reflected in our Instagram numbers. Although we have close to 45,000 followers on LinkedIn, on Instagram it is 8,500.

So the question is, what other things can I do to 2x the growth on Instagram at least.

I feel we create and post content that’s creative and original, and not at all mediocre. Would love to hear feedback and ideas around how i can do things differently.

    Thanks in advance 🙂

How have you gotten the 8,500 IG followers? Are they real people who found your IG organically? Or did you/someone else at the company buy those followers?

Hire someone to run your page who focuses on organic growth

Right now, Instagram is pushing Reels. They’re given more weight in the algorithm than other types of organic posts. Post at least 3 Reels a week with some not-super-targeted hashtags and your content will get pushed higher onto feeds. When more folks are using Reels, they’ll probably lower the weight of the feature to normal levels.
