Using FB Content (formats) for Instagram

a small business plans to create an Instagram account in addition to their FB and Twitter presence. They are pretty comfortable using FB and Twitter and create content for these channels regularly.
They fear, that the addition of Instagram will be too much work/effort. I think, there’s definitely merrit to their fear and one should not underestimate the work an additional channel creates. However, I believe the benefits will outweigh the costs.
Now to my question:
One of the typical Instagram formats is 1080px x 1080p
One of the typical FB formats is 1200px x 1200px
Can’t they just use e.g. their pictures form FB for Instagram as well? Is there a downside to this I am not aware of?
I am mainly concerned with the aesthetics, that the pictures will look OK. I am aware not to simply mirror the different channels.

Facebook allows for the square image, as well. I create most of my graphics for social in that format and use it across FB and IG.

I just wanna say fuck Facebook. Their community standards are shit and their standards for “community standards” are idiotic. Fuck them. Can’t even post a meme making fun of trump supporters, what kind of shit is that? I’m gonna post this there as soon as they unrestrict my account ???
