Unpausing Google Ads after 2/3 weeks – help

Posted by seohelper on January 13, 2021 at 7:19 pm

    Hi,

I run google ads for my eCommerce store.

I have 4 campaigns (a bit messy, i know but i’m a noob) – 3 of which are SKAG’s. In December, I had enough conversions and switched to targetROAS. I was happy with my performance (averaging a roas of 2.5 – 3 consistently). However, due to logistical problems (inventory was out of stock) I paused my campaigns just before xmas as i couldn’t fulfil orders.

Fast forward to last friday i switched them back on, and on results were pretty poor. Campaigns weren’t spending their budgets (very little traffic) so i decided to lower the TargetROAS. Now my traffic is picking back up, and slowly conversions (purchases for me) are rising, but very slowly.

What is the best course of action here? Before using targetROAS, my campaigns were on manual CPC – should i go back to this, or should i wait a couple of days for my ads to optimise?

    Thanks

Smart bidding is based on data from the last weeks. So it is expected to not work properly if you activate your campaigns again after a long paused time.

I would advise you to either lower your ROAS or go back to CPC for a week or two.
