    Unbounce Screwed Us… Need Help

Posted by nathan_sh on August 1, 2024 at 12:39 am

We use Unbounce and build out all of our cold paid traffic landing pages. We've been with them since almost the beginning of their existence. It's always been a cost we've worn as part of our management fees and as a way to stand out from the competition.

Today we got an email stating that they were increasing their fees by 6x (reduced sessions + reduced domains) which is simply unsustainable on our already tight margins for our legacy clients (40+). We really don't want to go back and renegotiate rates with clients that have been with us for 4+ years as it will leave a bad taste in their mouth.

This leaves us with only one choice and that's to find another option. Others who have migrated where did you go and what were you able to do in terms of making the migration simple and easy? Is there anything out there that can do a 1 click migration from Unbounce to another platform.

What options are out there and what sort of cost are we looking at?

Features we consider must-have deal breakers:
    – Dynamic text insertion
    – Dynamic meta text
    – Multi-variant conversion rate split testing

You’re probably not going to like the answer, but what’s preventing the next provider you’ll find to screw you the same way down the line?

You either need to price in the convenience from tools like Unbounce, or price in the inconvenience from having to do it yourself.

In any case, I’d try to send Unbounce’s support a mail, they tend to have some catered deals for old clients especially if they’re power users; they’d rather lose profit than lose a client altogether.

You relied on a 3rd party for a major part of your business. You always ran the risk of “being screwed”

Reply to that email asking for a chat, they have some agency plans for agencies that need 20+/50+/100+ domains to publish and plenty of traffic. So reply to that email asking to setup a call and talk to someone about this, then express your needs in the call and negociate a price that works for you. Best of luck!

Email support. Inquire about a better rate if you are an SMB.

I hate that they did this too. And they sunset the 10 domains option, now all ala carte and big bucks.

Very little innovation on their end too. The smart builder is trash.

If one tool raising prices is going to screw you over, then you need to rethink how you price things. Unbounce has been around 10+ years now,… so pricing going up is going to happen. Everyone’s costs has gone up to do business. You should just raise prices on your clients and bring them in-line with the cost to do business in 2024. Clients are already use to having prices go up for everything else.
