Hey everyone! I currently work for a large brand and we are currently doing a team restructure (which I am excited about) as my whole team quit and it was just me running the show. I am currently a senior coordinator, and am wanting to step away from content creation and lean more into numbers/data.
Has anyone done something like this or is currently in a social media data analyst role that can provide some insight? Thanks so much!!

Absolutely understand where you are at! I changed out of content to data a couple of years ago, and the last couple of years it has been thoroughly enjoyable. You will flourish in it if you are fond of finding trends and narrating stories using numbers. Begin familiarising yourself with analytics tools (such as Sprout, GA, and native platform insights) and familiarise yourself with Excel / Google Sheets. Would love to talk further in case you have any particular queries!

Welcome to the data side! I used to work agency-side and also focused heavily on data and strategy. I believe the biggest challenge you’ll come up against is showcasing data insights to others in the organization in a way that makes sense to them. As a data-focused marketer, I’m intereted in every metric and every data point but no one else in your organization will care, so its about finding what your stakeholders actually care about and then marrying those findings to your data points so that everytime you present something, they understand that you’re talking about business value instead of some obscure (in their minds) social metrics. Getting everyone on the same page early on is key and agreeing together what goals/KPIs you want to hit. Good luck!
