    Tracking for rental and sales

    Hey guys! I have started working with a new client who does car rental and sales and when it comes to analytics it tracks rentals as sales as well.

    Eg – 3 month or 6 month rental option has a fixed value and it goes through as a sale.

    How do I tackle tracking this in Google Analytics?

    Also how do I setup tracking within fb to track rentals separately so I could optimise campaigns for that?

    In Google Analytics, I’d suggest using the same event category for your rentals and then maybe using the label to differentiate between them. Also make sure to assign an appropriate event value.

    In FB, you can either create a custom conversion for rentals (if you don’t want to use the standard purchase event) or you may be able to find a way to differentiate using event parameters

    Like Hawkey mentioned, you’ll have to create an event and then push it to Google Analytics.

    I highly recommend using Google Tag Manager <> Google Analytics, so that you can make any updates to the tracking framework on the fly.

    Another tool that I’d recommend apart from Google Analytics is MixPanel.
