  • Toxicity Score Increasing – Don’t Know Why

The toxicity score of one of my client’s website is increasing even after disavowing the spammy backlinks. I can’t figure out the reason. I know I’ll find out the reason but if anyone of you ever faced such issue, let me know your insights.

The site has good quality backlinks but the site has been redirected to a new domain recently and some of the internal links on the blogs are going back to the old URL.

We have fixed the issue, but can it be the reason for a high toxicity score (Having too many 404 links). Even though we fixed it.

Can it be the reason that it will take some time for the results to show up?

    Let me know your thoughts.

Ask a provider of “SEO tool” that you use. From SEO purposes there is no reason to use Toxicity Score or waste time to inderstand what is it about.

But I have a question. How do you identify which link is spammy for Google?

I’m not sure which tool you are using that you are looking at a toxicity score, but all of them are very unreliable and not something I would even worry about. Google doesn’t look at them.

Also, disavowing is almost always a bad idea and will have no impact on your “toxicity score”. Moz, Ahrefs, Semrush, or whatever tool you are using have no way of knowing what links you disavowed.
