  • Tips for a new social media manager in 2021? Instagram, Twitter and Facebook

Hi! I’ve been a marketing manager for over 10 years but I haven’t been the one managing social media in over 7 years and I’ll be the SMM as part of my new role shortly! I feel like a dinosaur.

I’ll be managing the Instagram, Twitter and Facebook for a University department focused on academic skills development. Mostly an undergrad and TA demographic. We’re using mostly Insta and Twitter. No paid advertising. Most of the demo under 30.

I’d love any tips or links to tips for making content for instagram stories or video on Instagram. (I don’t even know how to make the videos!) The landscape has changed dramatically since I was the content creator.

Blogs to follow? Youtube accounts with info? Any suggestions for a refresher would be helpful!

I’m also a designer, so I’ll be planning and creating content as well as managing.

    Thanks in advance. ?

Adobe Spark is a great starting point for Instagram stories! I work for a college and use it to create weekly event stories, updates, etc.

1+ vote for Canva-you can do some really cool stuff on their platform. Keep your content authentic and captivating (which you should excel at given your experience) There some good YouTube videos out there too-off the top of my head I’m thinking check out Pat Flynn-Peter Voogd-or Liz Brousseau. Best of luck with your new endeavor!
