Tiktok Algorithm
Posted by seohelper on July 21, 2020 at 10:16 amSo i started posting on tiktok a month ago, my first video went viral and i gained 2k followers in a week. I kept on uploading stuff until last week another one of my videos went viral and got 1M views. I now have 26k followers, while most of my new uploads get 2k-5k views most on the lower end. Is there a reason why my followers are not seeing my content?

GuestJuly 21, 2020 at 10:27 amEveryone’s first video goes viral on TikTok, it’s how the system works. The reason you now have viewer views is because other new accounts are getting these sweet sweet vanity stats.
Also, noone actually KNOWS how it works, but many similar stories about TikTok engagement dropping quickly makes me believe this is how it works.

GuestJuly 21, 2020 at 10:30 amI agree with @CondorPerplex.
Someone asked a similar question a few days ago and here’s my response:
“From my understanding Tik-Tok pushes new users to the front of the line initially. This gets you addicted to the “fame” you’re receiving. Suddenly you think people freakin love you and what you do or say. Then they drop you and you’re left scrambling trying to get all that attention again. If I’m not mistaken Linkedin had a similar strategy a few years back. I think they called it “robin hood”.”

GuestJuly 21, 2020 at 11:42 amTik Tok adds fake views and followers to keep people inside the platform and gives A star treatment to new users. They don’t need our talent they need our data.

GuestJuly 21, 2020 at 12:04 pmI’ve said it a million times and while people always argue with me about it, it’s proven true across platforms time and again: Followers don’t matter. We have thousands of subscribers on YouTube, for example, and our average view count is usually under 100. We have magnitudes more followers on Facebook and our engagement there, on a good day, is 100 likes per post. We have even more followers on LinkedIn and our engagement is almost nothing.
It’s the same across platforms for all the businesses I follow. Look at the Topps Facebook page: 191,000 followers and they barely break 100 likes on a lot of posts; many are way lower. Western Michigan University has more than 103,000 followers and sees similarly low engagement. Again: Followers don’t matter.

GuestJuly 21, 2020 at 1:41 pmI recently joined too and I have yet to do any of the really trendy stuff.
3 of my first videos are barely around 100 views. My 4th was a JoJo pose (the one and only niche trend) and that’s close to 2k views and continuing.
5th and 6th are under 100 views.
Apparently no one really knows how the tiktok algorithm works. I’ve seen lots of people claim the tactic of having new users feature more often and then later on be dropped. But I’ve seen lots of users gain random fame much much later.
Accordingly your content gets shown to people if it seems relevant to be on their For You page. Plus, followers have a separate tab where they can see content from people they follow, so perhaps you show up less on the random for you page.

GuestJuly 21, 2020 at 3:46 pmomg search this subreddit please.
some people have started another sub dedicated to figuring out the tiktok algo:
/r/tiktokalgo
At this point these repeat questions are just spam. Are the mods even interested in moderating this subreddit? where’s the Wiki/FAQ?

GuestJuly 22, 2020 at 12:31 amIt could be that you have one video that went against their community guidelines for something stupid like music copyright. A common problem with tik tok is creators deleting or removing music which causes you to get the yellow ring of death on the bottom right corner of your video where the music icon usually is. I’d check for those and if you see any of those then instantly private those video or even remove them
