    Hi!

I have a bussiness that sells products online and has an online store. However, this past month of june I had a decrease in traffic quite of a sudden, without changing anything SEO related, only changing some of the categories I had my products divided in.

Following the analysis from SemRush, I am not sure why this happened. The decrease is a 12% decrease, which is huge.

And I am also unsure as to how should I proceed. My idea is include more text inside my categories and products, so the SEO improves, and hopefully it will increase again the traffic. I was growing the precious months around 15-25% each month.

How can I search for the cause of this sudden change and what I could I do to improve my traffic?

12% huge? I almost always get a drop of 30%. I’m in personal finance and with every update, it becomes harder to prove myself against banks, bankers, and well-established gurus.

Are you looking at your traffic drop only from SEMrush?

How are things in Google Analytics and Google Search Console

First, stop using 3d parthy “SEO tools”. If your visitors prefer Google, use Google Search Console. Also, you can use web tracking tool, for example Google Analytics.

Second, the cause can be seasonal fluctuations.

Third, web search is the dynamic environment. You need to work every day to do your site better.

Fourth, you changed “some categories” that could have affected SEO.

In fact, there is a lot of causes of drop in traffic.

Consider not looking at your site as an isolated point on the web. Other sites’ relevance can increase to certain keywords regardless of algorithm updates and can get ahead of you, even (or especially) if you do nothing to your site. Check which keywords are causing the traffic drop and analyze why they might do that. A lot of them are closely related to other online marketing campaigns.

not to assume, but rather ask. what are you doing to show Google your site is updating with relevant info about your store? Keeping a fresh daily blog and social post about your content keeps it from going stale, and shows google there’s updated info.

Also take a look at all the places you can promote your products for free. Ideally google will see traffic coming from these places, see that there’s updated info on other sites, look to your site and see updated info as well, and not ding you as hard or better yet start to rank you higher for keywords

it seems that seasonal fluctuations are the main cause for traffic dropping. you can get help with social media promotions to get back your traffic level. according to my opinion, third-party tools often show false results. so don’t panic after some days you will get your traffic without any tactic.

Sudden change like that is either from the algorithm or from changes you have done.

What you mention here is quite vague so I am not sure what you did specifically to your categories.

Is this where the traffic decrease is happening?
Is it all organic traffic? What’s overall traffic like?
