  • Struggling to figure out the best way to get more followers… worth the effort?

Posted by Left_Election_3746 on October 1, 2025 at 10:47 am

I’ve been dabbling with content lately (mostly on IG and TikTok, nothing crazy professional), and I keep seeing all these tips on how to “get more followers.” Some people swear by posting daily, others say it’s all about engagement, and then there are also people talking about buying followers to give your profile a “jumpstart.”

I’ve been researching a bit, but honestly, I haven’t fully committed to any strategy yet because it feels like a full-time job just to keep up. Has anyone here actually tried different methods and seen real results? Like, does consistency actually pay off, or does buying followers actually help long-term, or is it just smoke and mirrors?

Would love to hear real experiences before I waste time going down the wrong path.

High quality content, a lot of it, and luck.

Consistency and audience fit beat buying followers long-term.

What worked for me was a 30‑day sprint: pick 2 content pillars, batch 12 clips, post 4x/week. Nail the first 2 seconds (clear hook + on‑screen text), write native captions, and add a simple follow CTA on your best posts. Track three things: average watch time, saves/shares, and follows per 1k views. Kill what underperforms after 3 posts and double down on what gets saves. Do a 20‑minute engagement window around each post (10 before, 10 after) commenting in your niche. Aim for one collab a week with a similar‑size creator (duets/stitches/shoutout swaps), and go live weekly to funnel people to Stories.

Buying followers looked good for a minute, but my reach tanked and brands could tell. If you need tools: I use Later for scheduling and CapCut for quick edits; Path Social is the only growth service I kept for IG discovery targeting to reach runners in my area-helped, but only once my hooks and captions were tight.

Stick to a simple test‑and‑iterate routine; consistency plus focused collabs beats fake followers.

what niche are you in tho? it’s way easier to get more followers in entertainment/memes than in something like education or lifestyle.

Followers don’t matter if they’re not interacting.

First, get a good mic of the best quality available in the market. Trust me, sound quality really makes a difference. I’d suggest Hollyland Lark M2.

Second, get a ring light or any other light that gives more clarity to your face.

Third, use a high-quality camera, or simply use an iPhone at 4K 60 fps.

If you combine these three factors with a proper storytelling format and the right hook, your video will deliver maximum value. Make sure it provides free value upfront. If people ask you for something, give them a free product or share the link to whatever product you are selling.

This is how you gain followers: it’s about building trust. The share ratio of your videos matters more than likes or comments, so focus on making content that people will want to share.

We have had an instagram for years but were never really engaged and its been a challenge jumping back in the last 8 months. It used to be far easier. We are fortunate that Pacific County has so much to offer but it has undoubtedly been more challenging as of late to truly get followers. We average about 40k impressions a week but have sub 5k followers. The endless scroll is real!

    SMM and Influencer here.

Begin with your niche: What’s the genre of content you are creating? Fashion, sports, comedy etc.

Then, who’s your demographic? Who do you want to be targetting i.e. young Gen Z, older millennials.

And most importantly, how will you stand out? You’re stepping into an incredibly saturated market. What are you bringing to the table that is unique?

The rest is all down to frequency, scheduling etc. but these are good core pillars to begin from.

consistency helps but not in a “post daily or fail” way. pick a few formats you can repeat, engage a bit before and after posting, and test different hooks. a friend stayed stuck at 800 followers until she posted 3 times a week and hit 5k in six months. buying followers only hurts reach, better to put money into boosting a good post. dm if you want the simple posting schedule i use.

Honestly, the whole “grow your followers” chase felt impossible until ditching the generic advice and trying a two-pronged approach. Using Viral Rabbi was a game-changer for understanding the analytics side, pinpointing the best times to post and what content actually resonated. That strategic insight combined with Viewtifulday’s easy-to-use templates for creating much more engaging videos finally made consistency feel manageable, not like a second job. This combo helped grow an audience that actually interacts, proving that the right tools are worth it over empty shortcuts like buying followers.

Buying followers doesn’t help long-term, most are fake and kill engagement. Consistency matters, but it doesn’t have to be daily. Better to post a few times a week, interact with people, and test what content clicks. That’s what actually grows.

Buying followers is useless. Fake numbers and zero engagement. Consistency and real content are what actually work. Post regularly, engage with your audience, and stay patient. That’s what gets real results.
