  • Someone’s impersonating my Brand on Facebook – what can I do?

Posted by seohelper on April 30, 2021 at 8:59 am

    Hello everyone!
I recently found out that someone is impersonating my Brand (I run a pretty successful startup) on Facebook. There is a Facebook page with the name of my Brand claiming to be the “official account” for my Brand. However, I don’t have an official Facebook page for my Brand (yet).
They use my copyrighted Logo and graphics and the Brand name which I own the trademark for.
I filed multiple trademark complaints (via the official Facebook forms) and reported the account multiple times. It’s been over 30 days since my first report and Facebook still hasn’t replied (nor taken action) at all.
I seriously don’t know what to do anymore…
Who knows how much damage the fake account has already done…
I’d appreciate any tips, infos or really any kind of help. Thank you everyone!!

Perhaps you could try claim the page by sending documents for proof of ownership (note: there used to be an option for that I don’t know if it still exists)

If you haven’t already, get other people friends/family/customers to report the page as impersonation

Make an official FB page and run ads that absolutely blast them…if you want to be petty. haha but seriously, I would do the claim ownership option as u/Mynameisdevil7 has said. They’ll give it to you if you can show hardcore proof such as business license, trademarking documents, etc. Reach out to FB help!

You need to contact Advertisement support. And make it clear that you are spending money on Facebook advertising and this page is taking away business. Those seem to be the magic words for FB ad-support.

If somebody **infringes** your **copyright**, you are entitled to file a lawsuit in federal court to **enforce** your rights. Remedies include obtaining an injunction or restraining order to prevent additional violations, an award of money damages, and possibly attorneys’ fees. You can also contact their online payment processing supplier stating they are accepting payment for pirate copyrighted items and they should drop their account, or be held liable for selling them. You should have your official page done first than ask people to report the false site and get 10% off first order with you. You can add a link for that purpose.
