Social bookmarking sites worth it or not?

But suddenly all of those websites got updated and they have removed my profiles and a huge number of my backlinks got removed which has dropped my domain rating from 47 to 39
My questions is, is it still worth it to create backlinks from bookmarking websites or is it considered to be a black hat technique? Although backlinks got removed but the traffic or any of my major keywords didn’t get effected, please advise! -

Google says ‘social bookmarking sites don’t matter anymore’. But I think that’s what they want us to believe so that a lot of us will stop doing it.
The value of social bookmarking is depreciating but it is still there.
My suggestion: Dedicate some efforts to it but not a lot.

What social bookmarking sites were you using before that removed your links? I agree with the commentor. I believe they still have some value. Do you mean Medium? I recently returned there.

Waste of time. **They can be like cushion backlinks to support powerful links.**

well i will say one word “it depends” . first of all it depends what kind of backlink are you creating and how much traffic that particular page got to make your backlink crawled.
if the link is dofollow on indexed page then it definitely worth it but if it is no follow we can still get some kind of juice from it.
even though it is a good way to get clean traffic to your web and ultimatly it gonna make your web or page stronger so i am gonna recommend you that.i have been working on SEO from last 8 years. and seen many things while working so i hope you guys understand what i want to say actually.

The question here is how did they affect your rankings?
You said your DR dropped, but that’s irrelevant. What happened to your positions and traffic?
If you’ve seen no affect in that area then there’s your answer
