Site bottomed again
Posted by on December 4, 2020 at 12:40 amFirstly, the site was doing great in this new niche (crypto airdrops). Then it bottomed. Last year I didn’t have too much time for it but decided to improve it in the last two months.
The first thing I noticed is that redirection for posts was messed out. That was fixed.
Then I started to improve the content. Content on the front page was improved. And I have started to improve the content on all other posts (+1000 posts). In the last month, I have fixed more than 200 posts, and on every second, or third I was adding a link to the home page in the content.
Then I figured out that links of the posts can also be improved. For example, if the product is called Stellar I was adding “airdrop” in the slug. WordPress is automatically 301 redirecting. As I was fixing the content, I will also changing the URL.
Product schema for all posts was added with no errors.
Everything was going great. The front page climbed from 3rd or 4th to 1st page yesterday. Most of the posts were ranking great and climbed to the front page. My organic traffic was highest in a year and a half, and it was 5 times bigger than the previous month. Every new post was in the first five results.
I’m checking ranks frequently, and on a recent check, my front page fell to the 9th page. Suddenly, almost all pages dropped.
I’m out of a clue what happened. No warnings in the search console. I’m trying to figure out what happened. If this is because of the interlinking to the home page, then why other links have dropped?
I cannot figure out what has happened and what to do anymore.

I see that one of the competitor’s sites, which was one spot above me and also recently moved to the 1st page is now on the +10th page.
I’m starting to believe that there was some algorithm change and for some reason, my site is not ranking well. I have great links for the home page and good and relevant content.

Google just started the December algorithm update a few hours ago. Wait a day or two and see what happens

yeah update released some sites of mine that are relativly new are botteming falling off the serps.
happened a month ago, might try reindexing the page see what happens.

Keep doing what you’re doing as it all makes sense. Sometimes after updates stuff gets messed up but eventually works itself out. Just watch on too many redirects and too high of anchor text if your sending it all to one page.
