hi guys. i'm new to reddit and i'm not sure if this is the right subreddit for this but it's worth a shot. so i have a genuine question about influencer brand trips and its significance (i am not an influencer nor do i aspire to be one at the moment, i'm just genuinely curious). Also, sorry if this is way too long

i understand that brands will send some influencers their products to do a review and advertise to their social platforms which will in turn influence their audience to possible purchase that product. However, i am confused as to how influencer brand trips will influence a regular consumer to purchase their products. Let's say for instance that Summer Fridays is doing an influencer brand trip where they fly out influencer to an NFL game. Influencers arrive and they start taking pictures and doing product placement pics. Some may also do a little vlog while there and post it to TikTok, IG, or Youtube (and they often times don't reveal much about the crux of the trip):

    1. How exactly does this brand trip influence me to buy a lip balm?
    2. What does the NFL have to do with lip balm?
    3. Why is it that these brands invite influencers (that they typically have to pay them to purchase/talk about their product) instead of real customers which to me is more likely to influence me to purchase from them
    4. The influencers already have money and can afford to go to an NFL game on their own, so why pay for them to go?

Let's also say that Rhode is doing a brand trip and is sending influencers to Italy and the same branch of questioning applies. What is the significance really? Why does it seem like the affordable brands can't extend these opportunities to their real, everyday customers? Wouldn't that more likely get a more influx of customers?

Hopefully someone has a clear insight on this and can help me understand!
