Lately it feels like social media isn’t really about communicating anymore. It feels more like announcing things into a space where nobody is really listening.

You post something you actually care about, and maybe it gets a couple of likes, maybe nothing. No real conversation, no back and forth, just… silence.

I’ve started to notice that a lot of people seem to be doing the same thing at the same time. Everyone posting, very little actual interaction.

It makes me wonder if the problem isn’t just the algorithms, but something deeper. Like we’re all broadcasting, but not really connecting.

Curious if others are feeling this too, or if I’m just using these platforms the wrong way.

Most people are shouting into the void, Facebook is where you post what you care about because thats only your friends, people come on IG, TikTok etc for what THEY care about. Post and people respond is old, it’s “ give people a reason to react” now. You need to challenge a belief, say something slightly controversial, make someone feel seen, or ask for input in a real way

Also, a lot of people don’t engage publicly. The algorithms is not killing connection, it’s the contents not giving people a reason to join the conversation.

The algorithm wants to work with you because the more you keep people on the platform for them the more ad they can show.

When you post it goes to a test batch of followers + 1-5% of similar non-followers. If they scroll and not interested, the platform don’t keep showing it and if you keep putting the same type of bad contents they just clock your page as not interesting so they don’t prioritize your posts.

TikTok is like this 100%. I wrote a book called “Pumping Content into the Void” at [passivehustling.com](http://passivehustling.com)

Guess what – no one bought it. 😛 Case in point.

Another metaphor I like is “throwing videos at a brick wall.”

Don’t be discouraged. I think people are just tired, and when they get on social media, they just want to scroll. But I’ve received a lot of feedback in person from people who have seen what I posted on instagram. They’re seeing it, they are just exhausted from the constant calls to action and are engaging less.

Well I’m afraid my phone is actually reading my mind because these were my exact thoughts right before opening Reddit lol

I’ve heard it said that there’s really no such thing as social media anymore; it’s algorithmic media. Which is frustrating for businesses trying to push out messaging. BUT I do believe that while the vanity metrics are gone, there’s still huge value in updating your social channels so that the content there can serve as a ‘wiki’ of information when someone discovers your brand!

yeah it may feel like this, especially when social media is just to promote our businesses, and a lottt when people use ai

but I still see amazing creators, and I believe we could be so with the right tools to remove a lot of time, and the right mindset to invest time in things that actually matters

the worst part is you see people with way less effort blowing up and youre sitting there like what am i doing wrong. i think most engagement now happens in dms and stories not on the actual feed so it just looks dead but people are actually watching
