  • Should my social media profiles match for personal branding?

I’m a software engineer and use social media for professional reasons only. I use things like Viber and chat for personal conversations. I want to open my own development agency this year, so I’ve been more active on the social media channels that seem useful to promoting myself – Facebook, Instagram, Linkedin, and Twitter. I’ll also set up company profiles on each of those services.

Each of the four seem like different audiences: fellow techies on Twitter, potential collaborators and clients on Facebook and Linkedin, design ideas on Instagram. I haven’t seen tech people really use Instagram very effectively.

My question is: should my personal branding be the same across all four channels? Right now it’s completely different, because it’s felt like difference audiences. Thanks!

If you want to keep your audiences separate so you can put out different content on different profiles then sure keep them separate.

If you want to grow your audience on each platform faster and with more ease, then have the same brand across all channels.
