First off, ignore anyone who tries to sell you services on this post or through a direct message.

Second, anyone you do hire, ask for case studies. If they are able to actually get pages to rank, they will be able to prove it in Google Search Console.

Third, stay away from places like Fiverr. So many “SEO specialists” will actually damage your site.

SEO is pretty easy to understand but just takes a lot of time and effort to implement.

What kind of business do you have, and where are you located? What do you hope SEO will do for you? If you’re targeting the map pack and you need citations $500 is more than enough to get you started. You can also look to invest that kind of money into Chamber of Commerce links to boost your local authority.

I’d suggest putting that 500 into an SEO tool to help you do it yourself. If you’re internet savvy you can probably do the basics and if you can write good content then your website should see traffic start to increase 👍🏽

    >We are now looking to do the same but don’t want to use the same person. I felt like he didn’t do much and couldn’t say what he was actually doing other than creating location pages and renaming the website name headers. I am pretty savvy myself—I felt like I could do what he did (copy and paste location pages). I do blog posts and Google updates every week. I’ve made sure our blog posts have been indexed. I’ve done some internal linking. We have no back links. But beyond that I don’t have any other skill/knowledge.

Correct – this isnt SEO and yeah, you’re budget is too small. Maybe you should consider qeuity for an SEO partner who can help growth hack you – obviously you need to do a lot of research but you sound like you can do it. I’ve written more than a few 10k words here about how to assess SEOs – like asking them what they rank for, how, how do they work. Nothing for interviewing for a partner, but might do that next… but anyway, you need to know what SEOs need to know and how to measure them and their performance. It can’t all just be a length of string and time.

Hey there! SEO is definitely a long-term game, but there are a few things you can do right now to build a solid foundation.

1.Building Backlinks: Instead of using link farms (which I wouldn’t recommend since they can hurt your brand), try reposting your blog articles on platforms like Medium with links back to your site. It’s a more legit way to get those backlinks.

2.Blog Content: You can definitely boost the number of your blog posts, but quality is super important too. Well-crafted posts get indexed by Google faster. Make sure your posts reference multiple external sources—this has been one of the most effective methods for us. Our posts got indexed in just 6 hours by doing this.
