SEO for one page websites?
Posted by Sara_b211 on January 5, 2026 at 10:44 pmHave you ever dealt with clients who refuse to have their developers create more pages?
If so, what’s your strategy to have them rank? As far as my knowledge, we would at least need services pages to rank for keywords

GuestJanuary 5, 2026 at 11:02 pmNo, because if a client says this, there is no way they are serious about SEO. I only work with clients who are serious about SEO.

GuestJanuary 5, 2026 at 11:36 pmYep. I’ve been there with clients who insist on a one page website because they read “somewhere” they were the best but insist on ranking for multiple keywords.
That’s a red flag for me and I walk away. Not worth the effort.
However, in the past I have tried to educate clients with the basics of how SEO works and keyword optimisation. It’s difficult when the client is completely technophobic.

GuestJanuary 6, 2026 at 2:01 amthis sounds like one of those situations where you need to have a real conversation with the client about expectations vs reality.
i haven’t dealt with this specific issue but i’ve definitely had clients who want results but won’t do the things necessary to get those results. It’s frustrating.
If they absolutely won’t budge on adding pages, i’d be upfront about what’s realistic. Like “We’re going to get limited results”

GuestJanuary 6, 2026 at 5:15 amOne advantage of a single-page website is that your entire focus is on the one page, which is typically the home page, so you don’t have to put much effort or think about ranking for other commercial keywords. you can target the keyword in the home page itself.
If the keyword is highly competitive and the business is not local, it will be very challenging.
