    Hello everyone,

I just built my website from scratch and I plan on doing some blogging to attract visitors. However, I’m brand new to SEO to drive traffic to my site.

Any advice on inexpensive courses I can consider to learn SEO from scratch? All of the programs I’ve heard are in the thousands, which I currently can’t afford.

Although others can facilitate learning, nobody can teach you anything–they can only inspire you to teach yourself. That means if you want to learn search engine optimization (SEO), you’ll have to take matters into your own hands. Having run an SEO firm for the past 15 years I had to train myself on everything I know.

Study Backlinko’s SEO hub. Read the whole thing a few times and create a site that you can practice on. I know of big, global agencies that just take his tutorials and repackage them to pitch to clients as their own strategies.

To learn technical SEO get yourself a Sitebulb account, then crawl a few different sized sites and study the hints that Sitebulb gives. These hints are well documented and I’ve picked up some gems over the years.

If you’re looking for something easily digestible with different time-saving templates, knowledge bombs, and pure value, I’ve recently released an eBook that only costs a tenner. Happy to provide more info in case you’re interested in doing some reading 🙂

Having said that, you should take this knowledge and apply it within your own scenario. It’s important to experiment with what you’ve learnt, which is why the eBook has an entire section on reviewing your activities so that you can better your processes every time.

Moz has excellent resources. All the tools – Screaming Frog, Ahrefs, SEMRush, etc have good info too but they’re usually limited to concepts based on their own capabilities.

I used to recommend The Art of SEO, but I think it’s outdated. That being said I believe if you Google it you can find a PDF version of this long book. It’s more of a history book now though.

There is no particular course, people just want your money so they just teach you basics of seo. When you do practically you can learn real seo.
