    Hi all,

    I’m at a loss. I’ve used the HTML tag verification for Search Console, using Drupal’s metatag module. So you just enter the content query string and Drupal creates the full tag.

    The tag shows up correctly AND when verifying, Search Console returns the following message:

    ” **Your meta tag is incorrect. Are you using a meta tag for a different site or user account?**
    **Found meta tag:**

    * **ZXGXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXQxdcl”**

    But, the tag content that Google gives is.. ZXGXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXQxdcl – i.e. the exact same string.

    Why in the world is Google saying it’s the wrong tag? I have no idea.

    Any help greatly appreciated!

    Did you check the rendered HTML with the Google tools (e.g. mobile-friendly test) to make sure it shows up as expected when Googlebot checks?
