    My client did even worse than this, change website hosting but let her website designer “transfer” her domain to the new one, the domain was still on the old website, the amount of 404s… what made it worse is that it happened right after she got a 70% increase of visitors to her site and spike in patients. Then severly dropped due to the redirection errors.

    Luckily I notice something off and fixed it. Now her website is going back up again.

    At least your client is notifying you so you can be as proactive as you can.

    I lost some big rankings from a domain change, even with proper redirects in place.

    I ranked for keywords like “link building agency” and lost it after a domain change.

    I think it’s because Google doesn’t keep all of the link authority through redirects.
