Remove sitemap in Search Console old domain after migration?
I experience a huge traffic loss after migrating vihara.nl to meditatieinstituut.nl over six weeks ago. Myself I’m experienced SEO and I asked many others to look with me but unfortunately nothing was found that was really wrong. In fact the migration seemed to be done in a good way. But still the traffic is not back on track.
Now I noticed that Google indexed even more url’s from the old domain than few weeks ago. Isn’t that disturbing? I thought, maybe this is because of the old sitemap is still pushed in the Search Console of the old domain. In this sitemap there are also url’s that contained a noindex tag, which is not there anymore since the page is redirected to the page on the new domain. On the new domain of course the noindex tag is there.
So I was thinking, maybe I should remove the old sitemap in the Search Console of the old domain?
On the other hand, since al the pages are redirected and I also filled in the migration form in Search Console, it should not be a problem the sitemap is still there right? This should make Google clear which pages are migrated so it can sent all the authority to the new domain and individual pages, right?
Looking forward to your thoughts…
