Relevancy – SEO’s Killer Factor
I know there are tons of things that go into ranking with SEO, but I’ve been focusing a lot on relevancy recently and have had some incredible results.
My thinking is this. What does Google want?
They want to serve up their users relevant content. If a user searches for “plumber in LA”, then they want to make sure they are returning websites that are about LA plumbers right?
Not just websites about plumbers, or websites about how to be a plumber.
If they didn’t nail this, then people would eventually stop using Google, and would use another search engine which would mean loss of revenue etc.
So for me, when I build a site in my lead gen business that I want to get to #1, I go out of my way to tell Google that my site is 100% about “plumbers in LA” or whatever leads I’m trying to generate.
Apart from obvious factors like titles, keywords, etc. I’ll also link out to Wiki or another authority site to their “plumber” page, and then another link out to their “LA” page.
This is telling Google – “Hey, this website is linking out to another website about plumbing…it must therefore be about plumbing”.
Combined with all the other factors like titles, keywords, this sends a really strong relativity message to Google.
With backlinks, I’ll also try hard to get backlinks from other plumbing sites, or other sites about LA. Again, this tells Google that if these other plumbing sites or LA sites are linking to this website, then it must be related to the same content.
Anyway, just wanted to share something that’s been working great guns for me lately.
Hope it helps.
