Getting reviews helps a lot. They’re a strong trust signal and can bolster your rankings greatly

Edit: sorry realized I put “rankings” instead of “reviews”. For my commercial roofing client though, that made a world of difference

I see most people are recommending reviews but when you look at the search results there’s almost always someone with much less reviews and still ranking better.

    Correct me if I’m wrong.

Google Business Profile – make sure it’s filled out and ask your customers for reviews.

Your website – put your city name on it, have your phone number easy to find, and make sure it loads fast on phones.

Write about what customers already ask you. Like How long does a roof last,” “repair or replace,”cost of a new roof”

That’s basically it to start. Everything else is just noise until you’ve nailed those things.

What’s your situation right now? Do you have a website?

Want to share your website so we can take a look and give recommendations?

That being said, SEO is all about competition. Go to your computer and Google “roofing company {location}” and see what pops up. Those are the companies you have to compete with. You have to compete with their Google Business Profile and their website.

Browse their websites. What kinds of landing pages do they have? What headings do they use? How do they organize their site?

Look through their Google Business Profiles. How many reviews do they have? What do they put for their services and service areas? How many photos do they have?

Next, scan through the rest of the results on the search page. What other pages show up (outside of business pages)? Which directories (Yelp, Angie’s list, etc.)? Is your website on those listings?

This will tell you much of what you need to know!

Local roofing is pretty forgiving if you get the basics right. Make sure your Google Business Profile is fully filled out, consistent NAP everywhere, and actively getting real reviews. Create one solid page per service plus one per city you actually serve, not thin copies. Track calls and form fills so you know what keywords or pages bring jobs, not just traffic. If you do anything technical, start with site speed and mobile since most roofing searches are phone-based. Curious what you are seeing now, calls, forms, or mostly impressions with no leads?
