  • Question about scheduling posts to Instagram

Posted by seohelper on March 24, 2021 at 11:32 pm

I am starting a new project where I post between 4 and 6 images to Instagram every day. I am using hoot suite to schedule the posts. Should I post all the images at the same time, or should I separate them by 10 or 15 minute intervals?

I would separate them by on hour intervals. That’s just me though, I like to give posts time to flow through the algorithm, I think an hour is too close but suggested it since it’s closer to 15 mins. I would probably only do 2-3 times a day ideally. If there is a reason you need 10-15 min intervals then go for it and measure the engagement! ☮️

I would definitely scatrer the posts throughout the day. Check your insights, and see when your followers daily active hours are, and choose from there. I would post in the morning, in the evening, and once or twice throughout the daytime during the most active hours.

Posting them all at the same time would not allow you to reach multiple people throughout the day and might come off as spammy.

If you can, post at least an hour apart at the very least. If you do post in the same hour, have it be during the most active hours.

with the new algorithm update, I recommend not using any automated posting services any longer.

Instagram has been steering away from rewarding that process for years now and at the moment, more than ever, any activity that is inorganic (no done by hand by a human) is deducting accounts further down in the content distribution totem pole within the IG algorithm’s eyes.

But generally, check your insights and see when your audience is most active and spread ur posts out every 2h prior and after that peak time.

Assuming you’re looking to grow your account, the best thing you can do is schedule your posts at various times throughout the day.

Track your data and insights, see where your followers are from/what time zones they’re in. This will give you a good idea as to when you should post in order to get the most engagement and the most people viewing the post.

Another thing to do is to look at your posts that performed the best and analyze why it performed the best. Was it the content? The time of day you posted?

One day, post more in the morning and less during the rest of the day. The next day, post more in the evening and less during the day. It will take a bit of experimentation, but after a short while of this, you’ll start to see some trends and get some good data on what times of day are the best for getting the most eyes on your posts.

Posting all images at the same time will not produce the desired results. You can schedule your posts at different times and spread them evenly throughout the day.

Go through the analytics to see when your followers are the most active and plan to schedule your content accordingly. If you don’t have enough data available, try A/B testing. Divide your images for early morning hours, afternoon lunch breaks, office closing hours, late evenings, and night.

Spacing out posts will help you know when your audience is the most active. Check which posts get the maximum engagement. Prepare a spreadsheet and note down the details of the post, time of posting, and likes and comments received.

This may sound like a lot of work, but will eventually help you in reaching more people and grow your followers. Because in the end, you need to increase your follower base and convert them into customers, right?! 🙂
