  question about competition

  so, i’ve been building some ideas around a certain decent looking keyword phrase. in the process of staking out the competition i realized that most of my competition cover a broader range of topics or services that are all in the same field, one of the being the kw i was looking at. is it worth competing with these sites with a bigger range of content? the keywords for my niche seem to be rankable, but i’m not just not sure to what extent their wide range content helps them with ranking these keywords. is this time to move on, or is this not as big of an obstacle as i am assuming? thanks
