Hey y’all! I’d love your opinion here. I posted a TikTok that has gone viral. Very exciting for my school. I want to put it on Instagram today. It is 40 seconds long, so I can’t simply copy it to Reels. What do y’all think the better option is?

A: split video in half and do a carousel post
B: edit the video to be 1.something speed at certain parts or cut out a part and try to trim to 30 seconds
C: post as a single video post (not IGTV)

IGTV seems to be dead and experience has led me to believe that carousel posts do better than single videos. Reels would be my #1 but I worry speeding up parts may be weird. Any snap reactions?

I’ve read a lot about TikTok to IG, and unfortunately the consensus is that IG is not going to show your post to anyone who isn’t a follower of it has a TikTok watermark.

In addition, lots of reports of videos that go tons of love on TikTok not doing well on IG and total flops blowing up.

IGTV isn‘t dead; quite the opposite. Facebook is pushing IGTV and Reels a lot.

Personally I would crop the TikTok to 4:5 and publish it as a normal video.

Is it so important to post the whole 40 sec video? Usually there is just one key action which excites users, so I would cut it to be a good fit for a Reel. You can also save it as a video without a watermark, just will need to add the music once again.

Instagram is not pushing posts and IGTV to other users but it does for Reels, so the only option to get viral on Instagram is to post reels (or have a huge loyal following of your page and ask to share).

    Hope that helps
