Has anyone else had problems with the SEMrush position tracking tool? We are tracking various keywords in the zip codes around our target city and while the keyword position changes, the local volume stays the same; even when the zip codes are 20+ miles apart…seems odd right? I have asked SEMrush to clarify what their definition of “local tracking” is but have not received an answer yet.

Has anyone else had a similar issue? or know of a tool that can accurately provide local keyword volume down to either the city or zip?

Hi u/just-wana-help, Sam from SEMrush here, the reason it happens is that we don’t show volume for individual zip codes, only cities. So if you are targeting a zip code, we will only show national volume. The reason we offer zip code targeting is because SERPs and Local Pack results can still vary by zip code. If you need any assistance with the tool, please DM me.
