I just received a call from someone stating that they were threatened online by someone claiming to be an employee. Looking over their profile, they are making violent and threatening posts. I know there isn't a lot I can do as long as they aren't breaking any laws, but at this point there has been criminal activity.

IMPORTANT NOTE: I own a firearm retail shop and range, and the person making threats is claiming to be a range safety officer at my business.

Does anyone have experience dealing with this with Facebook directly? I would like to explore options not involving a lawyer first, but I do have one on retainer if it escalates to that.

Facebook does not, would not, and could not give a shit. They’re promoting content for white supremacists and pedophiles and posting advertisements for scammers who target Facebook users and hijack their accounts.

If the scammer openly admitted they were lying, threatening, and scamming Facebook users, FB still wouldn’t ban them…but they’ll ban your grandmas for uploading a photo of an onion while their AI insists it’s child predation…while at the same time, they let the real child predators run free on Facebook, and Mark Zuckerberg even “donated” millions of dollars to rapists and child predators.

I get that all the time. I simply ignore. Facebook would just ban you without warning.

The best thing is probably to ignore these messages and if they don’t get any response from your, they are likely to stop sending these messages soon.

I think that the ideal would be to look for a good lawyer, so that he can give you viable options that do not put you at risk.
