Our DA dropped by 4 points in 5 weeks.
Posted by on May 7, 2020 at 5:43 pmHello. Please help me with 1 or 2 reasons why the DA of our website dropped from 16 to 12 in just 5 weeks. We have recently revamped our website. Some backlinks may be lost, is that the reason? But those backlinks are not from good websites. Our Website: – prithu.in

Don’t worry about DA. Worry about your rankings, traffic and whatever key performance indicators (KPIs) are important to your business.

I’d sign up to a trial for SEMRush or AHREFS – this should flag if any of your backlinks have been lost. If they’re low quality then I wouldn’t worry too much.

Has your organic traffic dropped? Have positions on important keywords decreased? Did conversions decline? If the answers to these questions is no, then 1) walk over to the person who suggested that domain authority (DA) was important and give them a haughty sneer of derision, then 2) send Fishkin an email asking for your money back for the time you’ve wasted chasing a vanity metric.
